SIGNS OF THE RECOVERY AFTER THE GLOBAL RECESSION

EVTEKS 2010, the second biggest fair in the world in its field and the biggest in Turkey, was organised in CNR Expo Center and proved that the home textiles industry left the crises behind. The fair was attended by nearly 1000 local-foreign firms and visited by 81.300 visitors. Participants of EVTEKS 2010 had new short and medium term agreements.

Textiles industry has a goal of increasing home textiles exports to 10 billion dollars in 100th year of the Republic and continues its progress towards this target with EVTEKS. EVTEKS was organised by Istanbul Trade Fairs between the dates of 19-23 May 2010 with the support of TETSIAD (Turkey Home Textiles Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association) and UIB (Uludağ Exporters Association) and boosted morale of the industry. With the number of its visitors and trade connections, the fair signalled to be the greatest fair of the world in home textiles next year and it was visited by 81.300 visitors totally, 63.000 of whom were local visitors.

The high quality product portfolio, the diversity of the products & prices, the international exhibitor profile raised the success of EVTEKS and attracted the attentions of purchasers and professionals from all over the world. Significant companies of the sector such as Tanrıverdi, Vanelli, Soley, Zorlu, Özdilek, Aydın Tekstil, Baydemirler, Pierre Cardin and Küçükçalık, attended İstanbul Home Textiles Fair. Tulle, curtain, embroidery, upholstery products, kilims, bathroom products, kitchen, bedroom products, wall covers, accessories and carpets were the products exhibited at the fair.

Number of Visitors Increased By 30 %
Number of foreign visitors in Istanbul Home Textiles Fair had a significant increase when compared with the previous year, at a rate of 30%. Representatives of Istanbul Trade Fairs stated that number of visitors reached to 18.300 this year, although it had realised as 14.000 visitors in the previous year. Albania, Belgium, Canada, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Greece, India, Iraq, Ireland, Japan, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Pakistan, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Spain, Sudan, Sweden, Syria, Holland, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Ukraine were among 95 visitors countries of the fair.

And, with the support of the Undersecretariat of Prime Ministry for Foreign Trade, a special delegation including buyers and press members of well known magazines from 31 selected countries was organized once again. The delegation included businessmen from Albania, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Morocco, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sudan, Tunisia, UAE, Ukraine, etc.

International Companies' Choice: EVTEKS 2010
More than 100 foreign firms from nearly 20 countries like Germany, United States, Austria, Belgium, India, England, Italy, Spain, Canada, Lebanon, Moldova, Pakistan, Poland, Greece and Russia, opened stands at the Fair. The highest participation to the Fair was realised from Germany, Belgium, Italy, Poland and Greece. Foreign participants of EVTEKS 2010 increased by 25% per sqm when compared with the previous year.

Among the international visitors of EVTEKS, representatives of world famous brands took place such as Zara Home, Daniel Hetcher Home, La Fayette, J.C. PENNEY, Croscill, Morada Home, Wal-Mart, Al Basko, Parslame, Honar, Barg Lame, Vaft Azadi, Nafiznakh, Allders Dept Stores , British Home Stores, Bed & Bath Group, Sib Eurotex, Laguna Factory (Belarus), Sunrise International, Elegant, SangetsuCo, Next M Co, Powerzport, Isetan, AIC, Suminoe, Toli, El Corte Ingles, Saudi Home.

Styles and trends of the next year were set at the fair and 2011 home textiles trends were exhibited at ''Trend Forum 2011: Rhythm'', organised by UTIB (Uludağ Textile Exporters Association).

Marked as one of the top destinations and attracting a high profile of importers from all over the world EVTEKS will take place with new concepts and latest designs and products on May 18-22, 2011 to create the most effective business platform for the industry!
